Creating a custom space

There is something few people know, but that Emily uses to her advantage when decorating her home. It’s the fact that you can usually find a local craftsman to create a piece just for you, if you aren’t able to do it yourself. This was the case in the bike artwork hanging in her living room; it’s a fitting piece that brings a bit of whimsy to the room and shares her personality. Whenever Emily can incorporate herself into the pieces in her home, she does so in a way that makes a statement – like the handcrafted farmer’s market sign – artfully put together with pieces sourced from a variety of different places. These personal touches add character to a space already filled with stylish furnishings.  Emily is also a skilled mosaic artist and a very handy do-it-yourselfer; most of the projects shown throughout the home were done by Emily.

So if you’re wondering why this home feels warm, inviting and bursting with personality, it’s because of the one-of-a-kind pieces scattered throughout and the care that went into putting it together. We adore Emily’s eclectic and artistic style and they way she has pulled this cottage together.

Bold Accent

This living room is so fun that a little sophistication is needed to balance it out. Using roman shades is a great option to create a classic look, and we love that Emily chose a simple white covering that has a thick black accent border so the windows are also a feature of the home.
