Vivid Interiors Loft
Loft Living in Vivid Color
We fell in love instantly with this pastel-meets-modern downtown loft space by North Carolina design studio Vivid Interiors. Their vision for this space perfectly blends vintage with shiny new pieces, soft textiles with glassy surfaces, wood with Lucite, and of course the entire space is washed in light and bright, feminine color. It’s a winning combination, and we checked in with the Vivid team to get some of the details that went into creating this space.
Who designed this space? Vivid Interiors designed this space, a team which includes Gina Hicks, Laura Mensch, and Amanda Hepler.
Can you tell us a little bit about this project? This loft is a rental space in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina. The walls are old and worn and so could not be painted, but the client wanted to soften and warm the space up. She also wanted to add a feminine touch to the loft.
Favorite piece in the space?
“The vintage swing chair is pretty fantastic, and so is the Ro Sham Beaux peach beaded chandelier!”
Were you inspired by anything in particular when designing this room? We wanted to bring in as many layers to add warmth and depth to the space because it felt rather cold and sterile, so we layered the rugs, we layered pillows and textiles and we even layered art in some spots. We wanted the rooms to feel light and airy and the swing was just the perfect piece for the loft.

Did you encounter any challenges in designing this unique space? The loft was just an empty canvas when we met with the client. Fortunately, we were able to bring in warm peach tones and pastel colors in the artwork, lighting and floor covering that work perfectly with the neutral upholstery pieces.
“We absolutely love this space and we all secretly wish we could time travel back to our mid 20’s and live in a space this beautiful!”

Want to re-create the look & feel of this swinging downtown loft in your own home? Here’s where you can get the look–or find similar products you love–locally! All of the upholstery shown is by Younger Furniture, except where noted. The lounger sofa and vintage Eames-style lounger are from Area Modern Furniture in Greensboro. The wood coffee table is Arteriors and the ivory console table is by BluDot. Those crisp, clean white lamps are Gallery Designs, handcrafted pink ceramic vases are Jamie Young, and the blue lamp and pastel contemporary canvas seen over the console table are from Amy Sims of A/S Art & Home. Make a glowing statement the way the Vivid team did with a beaded chandelier from Ro Sham Beaux. Don’t forget to create a soft landing place with piles of pillows like these lavender ones from Ro Sham Beaux, gold beaded and sequined pillows from Aviva Stanoff, and purple agate pillows from Design Legacy by Kelly O’Neal. Continue the layered textile feeling all the way down to the floor, with natural cowhide rugs from Saddlemans and a vintage kilim from Nomadic Trading Co. That fabulous basket swing and the Lucite side table are one-of-a-kind vintage finds, adding just the right touch to finish off this fun & feminine space!
