Vibrant Southern Home by Laura Ramsey Interiors

Room to Grow

When the REstyleSOURCE team got a peek at this recent project by Georgia-based Laura Ramsey Furniture & Interiors, we couldn’t help wanting to know more about this crisp white space accented with grassy greens and deep blues. This home is located on a gorgeous piece of northern Georgia land complete with lush trees and rolling green lawn, and the designer worked to bring these rich natural hues to the interior of the home. A combination of vibrant greens and blues layered over a neutral palette provided the design theme for this family-friendly home, where playfully modern elements like bold fabric prints and a rectangular brass chandelier coexist happily alongside traditional dark wood furniture.

The perfect spot for a fun-loving, growing family (the owners recently ‘expanded’ from a family of three to four!), this home’s many upholstered chairs and soft, inviting surfaces seem just right for kids of all ages. We got the scoop on the design details from the Laura Ramsey design team…read on for more info and check out some of our REstyleSOURCE product picks to help you get this casual-chic look in your own home!

Designer’s Notes

This home was a joy to design! Laura Ramsey Furniture & Interiors designed this vibrant–and kid-friendly!–space for a family of three (now four) who moved from Orlando, FL to Alpharetta, GA. They have such a fun style, and each room we tackled was an adventure. We started with a clean slate, adding in cozy upholstered pieces from there, plus traditional dark wood pieces and softer layers like rugs and pillows.

Woven wood blinds on the windows add texture while softening the sunlight and a Cut Stripe Ivory rug by Dash and Albert lends a cozy yet elegant dimension to the room. The dark wood gate leg coffee table is both a traditional and functional element in this much-used family room, without being overpowering.

LR3To Market, To Market

The collection of blue and green pillows was found on a buying trip during the High Point Market in North Carolina–and they were only available in limited quantities, so decisions had to be made quickly! The over-sized, detailed butterfly prints were picked up here as well….there’s always something new for designers to find at market!

The butterfly prints we used in the family room really made a vivid impact in this otherwise semi-neutral setting. Vibrant shades of blue and green are a design element that was carried throughout the space.

Designer’s Notes

In the corner of the family room, we placed a neutral-covered spool chair and ottoman by Hickory Chair. Our client wanted to bring some fun and color into the room as well, so we also selected a pair of LEE swivel chairs in a white and blue polka dotted fabric (Sahara Midnight). The classic swivel silhouette with narrow arms in this bold, funky fabric really brought this room to life! An opposite approach was used in the library, where the color comes in from the beautiful green and blue rug and the shades upholstery are kept neutral.  LEE slipcovered chaises and chairs with matching ottomans help to complete the library’s  inviting and cozy look.
