Bringing design into nature

In the heart of Napa Valley, St. Helena, CA welcomes visitors to the Grotto at Charles Krug Winery and Traditional Home’s 2013 Napa Valley Showhouse. The opening evening event featured delicious fare paired with Charles Krug wine, previews of independent films for the upcoming Napa Valley Film Festival and an elegant outdoor design.

The Mondavi family’s enchanting home lies in the midst of the breathtaking vineyard, tucked amidst redwood trees. Outfitted with a selection of furnishings from Saint Dizier Home and LEE Industries’ outdoor collection, this hidden grotto makes a beautiful setting to showcase these furnishings. Jacques dressed the table with translucent green glasses and neutral artisan place settings from his shop, capturing the essence of the natural surroundings. Jacques mixed a rustic Jan Barboglio candle centerpiece with delicate gold nests and fresh eggs from his brood to create this inviting tablescape.

The Traditional Home’s Showhouse, with each room decorated by by a different interior designer, is open tour until November 30, 2013.  Tickets $40  Don’t miss the newly renovated Redwood Cellar.

Winery History

Charles Krug Winery is a family winery above all else. Founded in 1861, Charles Krug introduced the cider press for winemaking, which is still on display at the winery. In 1943, the business “changed” hands to the Mondavi Family who honors it’s roots today, pioneering efforts to plant vineyards in the Carneros Regions, use sterile filtration techniques and age wine in small French oak barrels.
