Small + Sophisticated Townhome by Alice Lane Home

Stylish Living in a Small Footprint

The creative team at Alice Lane Home firmly believes that small space living doesn’t mean you should have to feel limited on design–and we at REstyleSOURCE couldn’t agree more! “In fact,” say the Alice Lane designers, “[small spaces like] condos and townhomes have become increasingly more custom, making stylish and affordable lifestyles more accessible. We recently joined forces with Garbett Homes to design the Solameer Townhome model seen here. Our goal for this space was to maximize the square footage, and to match the modern lifestyle the townhome offers.” The design team, consisting of principal designer Jessica Bennett along with Lorri Cerva and Shelby Castleton, has put together a space that feels fresh and inviting, full of sunlight-washed neutrals and mixed metals with pops of vivid blues, greens and orange. It’s an environment that truly sees no limits–making excellent use of the space, and communicating a strong sense of personality although it’s ‘only’ a model home. The Solameer feels ready for an owner or couple to stroll through the door and begin living in their stylish new home immediately!

Ready to make this look your own? Most of the furnishings seen here can be purchased directly through Alice Lane Home, if you’re in the Salt Lake City or Orem, Utah area. If you’re outside their area, don’t miss our collage of REstyle Picks (and even more at the column at right) showing a range of products that coordinate with this look, plus links to see where you can ‘get it local’ at a shop near you! “We kept the interior finishes of the home neutral, and brought in light furnishings with crisp, modern lines to give the home a bright and airy feel.” Lindsay Salazar

“Pops of color were used throughout the space to add personality and prevent the space from looking stale. We love how it turned out and how the living spaces easily flow from one room to the next.” Lindsay Salazar

Designer Notes: Smart, Small Living

We mixed metals, used natural wood tones, which kept the space feeling casual…but still very chic. Overall, it has a more elevated feel than just your average ‘first home.’ It proves that small-space living can still be stylish and beautiful. The master bedroom and family room are both favorites of ours…but I have to say, the second bedroom/home office area was such a nice surprise, and great use of space! It really speaks to the lifestyle of a person who might live here; they’ll need a work space and a guest room. The day bed has a compact foot print, but is more generous to look at than a pull-out sofa.

“I also love the format of the art above the day bed. It feels architectural, smart, and edited.” Lindsay Salazar Lindsay Salazar

“The desk area is also handsome with its mixed materials on the desk, stone top, wood and metal frame and of course…that orange leather chair! We are going through a Hermès Orange-inspired moment here at Alice Lane! We just had to throw it in to brighten the mood.” Lindsay Salazar

Designer Notes: Kitchen/Dining Open Concept

Because of the open concept floor plan, and smaller foot print, everything had to be cohesive in this shared space. The kitchen table was round to help circulate movement from one space to the next. If you were entertaining, it would feel natural and not just feel like you have a kitchen table in the middle of the Family Room. Each zone functions on its own, and together it makes for a grander space.

“The mix of natural woods and metals really pop against the white background. It’s our favorite element of this design!” Lindsay Salazar Lindsay Salazar Lindsay Salazar

“The walls in the master bedroom are Flexible Gray by Sherwin-Williams…a perfectly soothing neutral mauve.” Lindsay Salazar Lindsay Salazar

“We really focused on the lifestyle when designing this space. Even though it was a model home, we were trying to show their clientele what was possible in this space. We envisioned a single professional or young couple just starting out, that have great taste, and love to entertain!” Lindsay Salazar Lindsay Salazar

“Our favorite design element is the art that we chose throughout the home. In smaller spaces, people generally skimp on the art. Art makes the design feel whole, especially when you use large scale pieces. Large art is also a great space-expanding trick!” Lindsay Salazar
