ShackletonThomas Handmade Furniture & Pottery
Pieces with soul and life
CONTRIBUTED BY PHYLLIS HIGGERSON
In a repurposed, 180-year-old mill on the banks of Vermont’s Ottauquechee River, the artisans of ShackletonThomas hand-craft contemporary wares using age-old methods. Under the husband and wife leadership of furniture maker Charles Shackleton and potter Miranda Thomas, the team – two in the pottery studio, six in the furniture workshop plus a master upholsterer – produces an exquisite array of goods displayed in the retail store on the mill’s ground floor. Made entirely by hand from high-quality, natural materials, the pieces are created one by one and each bear the hand of its maker – future heirlooms indeed.
“We believe in fine art for living – creating unique extraordinary pieces that have soul and life.”
