Modern Geometry

Masters in Geometric Studies

The REstyleSOURCE team just returned from trend spotting at the winter home design markets, and among the many trends being showcased for 2016, one is particularly clear: the geometric look is in. It may be mathematical in nature, but this ‘Modern Geometry’ style is anything but static and boring. These angular shapes are multilayered and full of texture, made of wood, brass, mirror, ceramic, or a combination of any of these. Many of these forms are meant to be experienced in the round–as more than simply flat wall art or surface decoration for furniture– and seem to be bursting off the wall and into three dimensions. Geometric, sculptural shapes are influencing lighting in a huge way for 2016; see below for just a few of our finds at Mr. Brown, Bobo Intriguing Objects, and more. Possibly the most influential shape to emerge this season is the lovely hexagon, often repeated and fitted neatly together in a grouping. We saw this honeycomb-inspired look time and time again, forming the bases of lamps, accent tables, mirrors and wall decor at Made Goods, Gold Leaf Design Group, Europe 2 You and more. We loved this shapely trend so much, we put together our own curated collection of geometric products that we’d style our own space with. See below for more of our photos from market, and don’t miss our Modern Geometry products below, plus even more REstyle Picks in the column at right!

JDVSee More of This Look!

Do a few of these pieces above look a little familiar? You may have seen them earlier in Jamie Durie‘s masterfully styled ‘Natural Forms’ vignette (Torme floor lamp by Mr. Brown and hexagonal mirrors by Regina Andrew, seen at left)–just more proof that we’re totally obsessed with the space he put together, we can’t stop looking at it! We think Jamie’s vignette showcases the Modern Geometry trend perfectly….see more photos and products from this design here!
