Putting Design to the Test

“Decorating is going into something that already exists and making it pretty, more functional, or more appropriate to that clients lifestyle, while design is about designing something from the beginning,” says designer Caroline Tyler DeCesare of DeCesare Design Group. When it came to this particular mix master family room space, it was nothing short of design. Caroline gutted the place and had a spectacular challenge: to make an empty shell not only beautiful, but interesting. In our opinion, she succeeded. Choose from a list of our inspired product picks to recreate this contemporary and beautiful space, and click here to view the full house.

“I like things to feel collected, and not like you got it all the same day, from the same place, from the same era.”

On Why She Sources Locally

“A huge part of my process when we go to install is to build in time to check out all the local things. Local galleries, local antique stores, etc. I think it adds a lot to their interior to have that local sourcing. I love helping people figure out how they live and making their spaces help them live better, so they’re not walking into a DeCesare Design Group interior, they’re walking into their home. That to me is the ultimate sign of success.”-Caroline Tyler DeCesare
