Midcentury Mystique by Arteriors Home
Inspired by Nature
This week, we’re spotlighting new trends from a line we love, Arteriors Home. Their latest releases feature designs inspired by the world outdoors: natural materials such as wood, brass and glass abound, and textures derived from nature feature heavily as well. There’s also a bit of a retro-cool nod to classic mid-century silhouettes, such as the rounded triangle of the Slater Cocktail Table and the minimal walnut-and-brass column of the Poe Lamp. The whimsy of this collection–which includes articulated brass insect sculptures, organically-inspired hanging pendants, and even the Wonderlandesque charm of the lilypad-inspired Spiegel Side Table–can’t be ignored as well! Inspired by this eclectic look? For those in the retail and design trade, find Arteriors in their many showrooms (including AmericasMart in Atlanta, which is hosting their annual Gift & Home Furnishings Market beginning January 12th). “A lot of really wonderful patterns that you normally see in textiles and upholstery, we’re actually using in lamps and on tables. Ripple effects on water, things in nature, we’re incorporating that [texture] into the construction.”
See a great example of this in the rippled, retro-inspired Slater Cocktail Table in antiqued brass and iron (shown at left).
“It’s a great new launch for us…we have a lot of metal and wonderful natural materials. These pieces are wonderfully whimsical!”
See a few fantastic examples of the wonderful whimsy of this Arteriors line in their collection of articulated brass insects, inspired directly by the natural world and by the antiqued feel of days gone by. Their botanically-inspired Spiegel Side Table is another great piece where the natural world and the manmade combine in an explosion of whimsy and style.
