Introducing the next in our series of Designer Spotlights focusing on the group of top national designers who will be featured at AmericasMart’s Portman White Vignette Gallery…..Michelle Workman! Michelle is an Chattanooga-based designer whose client roster has featured some of the top Hollywood elite, and whose design vocabulary speaks many languages, freely mixing styles and periods to create a unique vision tailored impeccably to each client. REstyleSOURCE got to know the lovely & effervescent Michelle a little better with a brief Q & A, and we’re so happy to share her and her colorful design personality with all our readers…

How did you get started in the world of interior design? I wanted to be an artist…but I can’t paint or draw, so I thought this was the next best thing!

What will be your inspiration for your Portman White vignette? White with red and blue will be the unifying theme behind my design.

What are some tips or hints to keep in mind when designing in Portman White, or in any all-or-mostly white palette? Portman White is a very soft white; it has a kind of warmth and glow to it. When I’m designing in a simplified palette, I always use multiple shades of a single color and tons of texture: this will help create depth to any monochromatic design.

What particular piece from AmericasMart will you build your design around? I started with the idea of a dining vignette, so the tabletop I used from Mottahedeh was my building block.
