Simple yet Luxe
DESIGN BY PIZITZ HOME & COTTAGE
This gorgeous coastal kitchen design was a unique element of the Maison de Vie show house, a collaborative effort between local business owners and designers alike with one common goal in mind: to create a beautiful home. Suzy Accola of Q Tile says that they wanted the space to be “monochromatic, with clean sweeping lines to represent the beach and the gulf as well.” While the majority of the room does not stray from greys and whites, the light blue-green amonizite provided a taste of the ocean amongst the coastal neutrals.
The space simultaneously resonates with clean elegance and casualness. The shimmering glass used in the tile backsplash and the overhead lighting fixture is stunning, calling to mind the glisten of sunlight reflected off the water.
For fluid lines, try using tile with an interesting pattern or shapely design, and stay away from rigid lines. Few of the lines within the tile used are kept straight, which provided a beautiful coastal element reminiscent of the movement of the ocean.

Susan Byrd of Pizitz Home & Cottage, was the principal designer for the dining room to accentuate the beautiful kitchen. Choosing a soft hue of blue for the slipcovered chairs provided the space with a small visual “pop” that complements the adjoining room. She also chose a durable concrete top table for the dining room in order to keep things not only functional, but beautiful.
