Interview with Kristin Jackson of Hunted Interior

Welcome to our new series of Designer Spotlights, focusing on the group of top bloggers and designers who will bring to life the Vignette Gallery Exhibition at AmericasMart beginning in July 2017. This summer market, the theme of the exhibition looks ahead to 2018 with the theme “The Great Reset: Redefining How We Live, Design and Do Business.” A select group of creatives will explore four trend forecast themes using their favorite furnishings and accessories sourced from the market. The next one of our designers to be featured is…Kristin Jackson! With years of experience as an international hotel designer, Kristin Jackson knows the importance of creating a luxurious space on every budget. Her design-focused blog Hunted Interior was founded in 2011, created to inspire readers in the hunt for their own unique style. Chosen by Better Homes & Gardens and Domino as one of the top decor blogs to follow, Hunted Interior provides original content through room makeovers, client projects, exciting collaborations and more. REstyleSOURCE recently chatted with Kristin, in a brief Q&A which will not only give our readers some background on her design philosophy, but also what they can expect to see from her vignette at AmericasMart Atlanta in July…

How did you get started in the world of blogging? Which came first for you, blogging or interior design? I was a hotel designer for 6 years, and left the industry when I had my daughter.  After a year of being just “Mom,” I needed a creative outlet.  My brother suggested blogging which was a foreign concept to me.  So on a whim, I created my site and started posting.

What inspires your creativity? Patterns and colors.  Whether on an invitation, fabric, artwork, a skirt, I am constantly inspired by patterns and love mixing them in multiple ways.

KJ mood board

Take a peek “behind the design” with this Nocturne mood board by Kristin Jackson!

How will your vignette explore the “Nocturne” theme?  I have a soft spot for moody hues and rich details.  I love how dark tones will envelop you in a space. I am excited to explore Nocturne more and bring it to life.

Designer Style Tip…”I like to use unexpected pieces in unexpected places.  Just because it is a bar cart, doesn’t mean it can’t be a nightstand or an end table.  Mixing up the uses of items creates a more interesting and layered space.”
