Artful Communication

Now, more than ever, the written letters sent through the mail are seemingly anachronistic-but the bright-colored envelope in the mail enclosed with handwritten correspondences filled with thoughtful words, never goes out of style.

I have a special place in my heart for letter writing because that is how my husband and I spent our courtship when circumstances did not allow us to be together. These letters from my beloved are a priceless cache of memories, discoveries and declarations of love and of dreams to come true. These letters are relics of our relationship over time, and I love to return to them ever so often and relive our memories through our years of letters.

Make a resolution in the new year to keep the art of handwritten correspondence alive and be a standout in the modern crowd. It is a carrier of family history and a beautiful way to stay connected.

Buy a fountain pen of good quality or learn the art form of calligraphy (with nib and ink) to add beauty to your letters. There is something so special about sitting down with a pretty pen and creating a piece of correspondence with elegant penmanship.
