Girls’ Night In by The TomKat Studio

It’s Ladies’ Night

Every busy schedule needs room for the essentials: good friends, good food and good laughs. But how are you going to make room in that busy schedule to spend quality time with your girlfriends if you don’t have time to spend in the kitchen getting ready? On behalf of everyone who’s ever felt that twinge of party-planning anxiety (and we at the REstyleSOURCE team are looking at ourselves, here, too), we turned to our friend Kim Stoegbauer of The TomKat Studio for advice. Kim is a hostess extraordinaire, and she shared with us an incredible tip that we just have to share with you….she’s been partnering up with Zoës Kitchen and letting them take care of all the catering at her parties, and the results are inspiring!

The first party Kim is sharing–the first in a series, so stay tuned over at her blog–is a Girls’ Night In gathering! Kim says, “With Zoës ‘Guilt Free Girls’ Night’ party pack and inspiration + printables from TomKat, you can easily recreate this casual celebration at home. Grab your girlfriends and host a fun night in with fresh Mediterranean food, refreshing margaritas and delicious sweets!” Read on for more details, and find out how you can effortlessly host a girls’ night of your own.

On the Menu

Kick your party-planning worries to the curb and let Zoës handle the menu for you! With so many delicious treats on the party pack menu, you’ll know that there’s something to suit every taste: a little guiltless salad here, a bite of chocolate cake there, and of course….margaritas for everyone! With the snacking taken care of, you can focus on the fun details like decorating your table, greeting guests, and spending quality time in with your girls. Here’s to Girls’ Night!

Girls’ Night Party Tips

tomkat1Kim’s Tip #1

My favorite floral arrangements are simple, elegant and easy to create. Even a handful of grocery store bouquets can look lovely and add drama to the table when given a little special treatment. To easily add pops of color to your gathering, pick up a few monochromatic bunches of flowers on your way home, cut all to the same length and place in a simple vase.

Stock up on pretty white plates, bowls and platters! These are timeless and will always be in style…and then you can go bold and mix your patterns! Pair modern striped plates and geometric shapes with vintage floral cups and pops of color for a statement your guests will love. Striped accents like this striped table runner from Kitchen Papers blend contemporary style with elegance, to create a modern & fresh feel.

For the prettiest presentation, scoop various sides and hummus flavors from their original containers into fancy bowls. When you have your party catered by your favorite restaurant, the hard work is already done for you, so spend a few of the extra minutes you saved on presentation and see what a difference it makes on your table! Just add pita wedges, cucumbers, and a lovely three-tiered stand and you’re ready to party!

Kim’s Tip #4

Fresh limeade makes the perfect base for an easy pitcher of margaritas! Add tequila, a cute straw and your favorite garnish, and you are ready to serve a cocktail that all your girls will love!

tomkatBefore the Party’s Over…

Don’t forget the Orzo Tabouli–it’s one of my favorite things on the menu– a refreshing Mediterranean side that compliments the fresh flowers and crisp colors on the table. And after dinner? It’s simple! Slice a large chocolate sheet cake (Zoës offers the most amazing YaYa’s Chocolate Cake) into smaller triangles, and your dessert tray is done…leaving you more time to mix and mingle with your guests before the end of the evening.
