Football for the Holidays A Texas Christmas
CONTRIBUTED BY HOLLY MATHIS
Few things get a Texan more excited than football, couple that with the joy of the holidays and it truly becomes the “most wonderful time of the year.”
In this tablescape, Holly Mathis of Holly Mathis Interiors, used Kitchen Papers from Hester & Cook to create a fun blend of football and Christmas! The chalk runner is a great place to keep score and make predictions, and the football runner adds both festive green and football cheer. Holly used art to remind her wild boys at the end of the day it’s all about peace and love. But the thrill of the game sure is fun, especially this time of year when favorite college teams are advancing to bowl games and local high school teams are hopefully headed into playoffs as well. Holly used small stripe bags to hold a bracket card of her favorite high school teams and wooden utensils to keep it casual. Football cookies from Texas business Blue Sugar Cookie Co. keeps it sweet and blends with Hester and Cook kraft-colored utensil napkins. Let’s not forget the moustache glasses and chalk-labled goblets that keep it fun, and little pennants that adorn the straws reminding guests to cheer for the best team.
Holly’s casual bar cart includes fun sodas for the kids and adult offerings as well. There you’ll find festive stir sticks to liven adult drinks and whimsical straws for kids, plus the lower levels makes storing extra napkins and bottle openers easy. Finally a potted tree in an old tin container adds quick Christmas décor without the hassle of ornaments.
All in all, there is nothing sweeter than combining football CHEER with Christmas spirit no matter the team you’re rooting for!
