EXCENTRICITIES AND LEE INDUSTRIES GIVES BACK TO THE MICHELLE MCGANN FUND

  • Jul 1 - Jul 31
  • All day
  • Excentricities, Inc. North Palm Beach
  • North Palm Beach, Florida

During the month of July, Excentricities will donate 10% of all Lee Industries Special Orders to benefit The Michelle McGann Fund. Michelle wouldn’t have succeeded on the golf course without the support and awareness of her parents. That’s why she's committed the mission and purpose of The Michelle McGann Fund to supporting families dealing with juvenile diabetes diagnoses, treatment plans and everyday functioning. The reality Every 17 seconds, an American is diagnosed with diabetes, and 208,000 people under the age of 20 have diabetes – the majority of which is Type 1. Learning how to live with juvenile diabetes is a huge challenge. Families dealing with juvenile diabetes are often overwhelmed. There are doctors’ appointments to schedule and varying treatment plans from which to choose. While diabetes research has its place and plays a critical role in how doctors treat diabetes in the future, many families need help now. Getting invaluable support The Michelle McGann Fund’s mission and purpose is to empower families with the support and education they need to ensure a health today and tomorrow for their child. Some of the many complications from diabetes – such as vision problems, blindness, kidney disease, hypertension, amputations and others – can be avoided or minimized when children get the best treatment possible. Further, quality of life improves when diabetics follow proper preventive and treatment protocols. Prevention and treatment can also help curtail expenses related to Type 1 diabetes. Over $245 billion – or 20 percent of total health care spending –is spent annually on diabetes-related healthcare in the U.S., and the individual cost burden for families can be overwhelming. As families become aware of complications, treatment options and the importance of diet and exercise, their children’s health and wellbeing improves accordingly. The cornerstone of health Families of diabetics need education and support to quickly get their children’s health on track. The Michelle McGann Fund is a driving force for promoting prompt diagnoses, proper treatment plans, and healthy, active lifestyles for children and families dealing with diabetes. • Jul 1 - Jul 31
  • All day
  • The Artful Lodger
  • Charlottesville, Virginia

The Artful Lodger is excited for the opportunity to collaborate with Lee Industries in supporting a very special local organization. For 13 years, Camp Kesem at UVA has served 100+ children annually, providing a fun-filled free overnight camp experience for children who have been affected by a parent diagnosed with cancer. The camp experience is provided by highly dedicated and trained University student volunteers. All campers have a parent who is in treatment for cancer, is in remission, or has passed. The mission of Camp Kesem is to provide an enjoyable camp experience in which children can build friendships and gain strength from peers facing similar challenges. www.campkesem.org The Artful Lodger is appreciative of Lee Industries "Lee Gives Back" initiative and will donate Lee's 5% discount to Camp Kesem. The word "kesem" is a noun of Hebrew origin which loosely translates as "magic; the ability to change a life; an agent of growth; power that transforms". We thank Lee Industries for providing us with an opportunity to make a significant contribution to a very special segment of our Charlottesville community.

The Nest Egg & Lee Industries Love Giving Back!

  • Jul 1 - Jul 31
  • 12:00 am - 12:00 am
  • The Nest Egg
  • Fairfax, Virginia

The Nest Egg & Lee Industries will be participating in "Lee Gives Back" during the month of July. A portion of all sales from all new Lee Industries upholstery orders purchased through The Nest Egg will be donated to Brite Paths' "Food4Thought" program. The Food4Thought program works with volunteers and staff at Partner Schools, participating Fairfax County Public Schools, to provide healthy meals, drinks and snacks over the weekend to children who receive free or reduced-price meals during school days. For many of these children, school meals might be the only ones they receive. Educators and child health experts know that when children have access to regular healthy meals, they are healthier, perform better in school and have fewer behavioral issues. The effects of persistent hunger can follow them for the rest of their lives. In one of the wealthiest counties in the United States, it is imperative that we work together as a community to ensure that our children are able to eat regular healthy meals. How Food4Thought Works: Britepaths partners with the Parent Teacher Associations, social workers and staff at Partner FCPS schools to help them create packages of non-perishable foods and drinks to send home each weekend with children in their school who have been identified as having need for food assistance. Volunteers and staff at the schools are collecting donations of appropriate foods and discreetly distributing the packs to children in their schools who have been identified as having the greatest need. Britepaths provides technical support to the schools, and passes on donations from community members who would like to help.
