East Beach Dining Room LEE Industries Coastal Living
Nautical Dining Nook
With this year’s Coastal Living Showhouse right around the corner, we are revisiting some past favorites. This crisp dining space from the 2011 Coastal Living Ultimate Beach House has everything that we would deem essential to a dining room. Not too cluttered, but still providing ample seating, we love how designer Phoebe Howard chose to use dining banquettes over chairs. This makes for a comfortable and streamlined look – enough seating to entertain guests, but without the busy look of a dining table overcrowded with chairs. Making use of slipcovers at the dining table is also a smart choice; just remove and wash in case of a spill! Pops of navy and cream upholstery pop against their neutral background of a a spacious jute rug and airy white window treatments, while the subtle shade of sky blue on the walls peeks through and provides another source of beachy color. Add in some crisp nautical elements such as the paddle mirror and a few decorative palm fronds, and you’ve got a smart space that’s just coastal enough. To recreate a similar look, shop the products seen in the space, along with some of our inspired REstyle products picks.

Did you know?
If you can’t find the right fabric to work with your space, maybe you should try creating your own! Sound crazy? Unable to find the perfect striped fabric for the dining banquettes pictured above, designer Phoebe Howard decided to have solid fabrics pieced together in the width of her choosing for large graphic color block effect. We think it’s genius…and resourceful!
