Special Pantone ‘Colors of the Year’ 2016 Edition:
When it comes to studying color trends and their impact on the world around us–from textile design to paint to fashion and jewelry–it all starts at Pantone. This world-renowned color trend forecasting authority (they’re also known for their industry-leading color matching system, which is kind of a huge deal for all those involved with design) has been selecting an influential Color of the Year for the last 50+ years, and this year they made news by selecting two……….Rose Quartz and Serenity, “demonstrating an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue.” Look for these colors to begin popping up everywhere around us, starting with Instagram itself!
In the world of home & lifestyle publications, House Beautiful has always lived up to its name, featuring pages and pages of glossy design photos that delight and inspire us! Their Instagram feed is no different, it’s just an even more instant way to connect with HB and to see what they’re loving right now! When they recently shared their very in-the-moment nod to one of Pantone’s Color of the Year, it took our breath away and secured their spot in this Design Love roundup immediately! We’re loving this upholstered take on Rose Quartz just as much as they are.
Luna*Zorro, a handwoven textile company run by designer Molly Berry in Antigua, may seem like the wild card on this list……but we fell hard for her colorful, bespoke linens a while back, and couldn’t resist showcasing Molly’s timely take on the Color of the Year with that one perfectly pink wall. It’s no surprise that a textile designer would be fascinated by color and pattern, so naturally there’s a lot of it splashed across Molly’s Instagram feed–everything from handwoven baskets to tiled floors to perfectly peeling paint. Her super-charming captions and the interesting window she provides into daily life and inspiration in Guatemala make her a definite must-follow!
Our friends at Surya have always captivated us with their style (rugs, pillows, home accents, you name it), but when they highlighted ‘the perfect pastel pairing’ of Rose Quartz and Serenity in a recent Instagram post, we knew we had the perfect reason to include them in a Design Love roundup! Get to know this fashion-forward company through the lens of their Instagram and receive great color palette & texture inspiration from them on a daily basis!
