Coastal Cottage in the Midwest by Nancy Erb
Hamptons Style in the Midwest
The REstyleSOURCE team is always blown away by the projects we feature here on the site, but even still, it’s not every day that we’re ready to pack our bags and move into one of our featured homes–that is, until a project like this comes along! We’d move into this cozy, Hamptons-inspired cottage by Nancy Erb of Pearson & Company in an instant if we could. Nancy’s airy, coastal style (nearly all of which was sourced from her store) helped to revitalize what was once a rather dated 1980s construction into this current-yet-timeless incarnation. We’re especially loving the kitchen, dining & sunroom (with additional casual dining) areas highlighted here, and their family-friendly approach to design. Some of Nancy’s favorites include the LEE slipcovered dining chairs–elegant and classic, yet practical enough for when grandchildren come to visit, since they’re washable–and some well-chosen antiques and vintage reproductions that hold up beautifully to life’s wear & tear. If you’re crushing on this space as much as we are, read on for more design notes from Nancy, and our REstyle picks so that you can ‘get this look’ from a store hear you. And watch this space for even more from Nancy’s lovely remodel, coming soon!

Designer Notes – Save or Replace?
Nancy says, “There were a few challenges along the way–one issue was deciding whether or not to tear the kitchen cabinets out and start over. Because the cabinets were in such good shape, we opted to have them professionally painted. We happen to have an excellent painter that knew how to put a skim coat onto oak, removing any trace of wood grain. That made all the difference. Now, down the road I plan to gut the kitchen and opt for a European style: no upper cabinets, large furniture style island, professional range, and we may remove a wall or two. I’ll keep you posted!”
