Stop right there. Whatever you’re doing, stop and take a look at these frozen lovelies right here. We think you need one of these satisfyingly sophisticated, grownup popsicles in your life this summer. Natalie Migliarini of the inspirational cocktail blog Beautiful Booze shared her recipe for Aperol and Lemonade Popsicles with us, and she says, “I love boozy popsicles and think they are fun & creative additions to any party, the perfect combination of booze and frozen goodness to serve to your guests.”
You are so right, Natalie! She also says, “Not only is the orange color of the Aperol so pretty in cocktails, but the refreshing fruity flavor will keep you coming back for more. I combined lemonade and edible flower petals in the first layer of the popsicles, then topped them off with that lovely, herbal flavored Aperol. Aperol is refreshing & great for summer days–and so is lemonade!–so it was a match made in heaven from the start. Cheers!”
- 6 ounces Aperol
- 2 ¼ cups of lemonade
- 6 small edible flowers, chopped
- 6 wooden popsicle sticks
- Pour 3 ounces of lemonade into each popsicle mold
- Divide chopped edible flowers evenly among the popsicle molds and stir
- Chill popsicle molds in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes or until the lemonade is slightly frozen
- Add wooden popsicle sticks and freeze over night
What’s That Ingredient, Again?
Here’s the lowdown on Aperol: it’s an Italian aperitif (the lighter, milder version of its more bitter cousin, Campari) that’s a sophisticated combo of bitter orange, gentian, rhubarb, and other herbal ingredients.
Natalie says….”I love Aperol because it is the Italian aperitif that tastes like summer in a bottle!”
