On the menu

Fire up the grill for some all-American party food! By keeping the menu simple, you can really enjoy guests. Serve chilled watermelon, corn on the cob, hot dogs & burgers, potato chips and fresh berries. Wicker trays are an alternative to the usual paper plates while making a great looking presentation.  Add a touch of nostalgia by picking up some old school soda bottles and popcorn boxes available at Cost Plus World Market.

ABOVE: Old shutters provide a backdrop for a patriotic party scene. Bring out the stars and stripes by using flags in your tablescape and adding in other touches of red white and blue to your table design (serving pieces, straws, paper goods, linens, etc).

It’s All In The DEtails

Here are a few of the easy party details we love:
• Red, white and blue stiped straws add a festive touch to drinks.
• Have a sparklers and smores bar for the “kids” both young and old.
• Tie up your serving pieces with twine or ribbon.
• Serve up your guests on individual trays like these woven wicker ones.

Recipe Idea

These Mozzarella, Basil, and Cherry Tomato Skewers are fresh, easy, and so delicious. Great for a summer party or picnic, this appetizer is ready in just minutes and is healthy and tasty. We used mini skewers and ingredients from Trader Joe’s.

For the kids

The 4th of July holiday brings out the kid in all of us. Set up some stations that the kids (both young and old, can enjoy). Some ideas include: a smores or candy bar, “fireworks” station (poppers, sparklers and mini fireworks) or make your own treat area. These activities not only keep little ones entertained, but provide opportunities for everyone to participate in a fun and memorable evening together.
